The Producer Price Index for finished goods declined in December by 0.1 percent according to the January 18th release. The index for finished goods had a 4.8 percent increase over the twelve month span on an unadjusted basis.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released Consumer Price Index data on January 19th. The energy index, specifically gasoline, decreased though was offset by gains in other areas leading to a CPI that was essentially unchanged in December on a seasonally adjusted basis. Inflation was up 3.0 percent over the last 12 months before seasonal adjustment.
